Resource-rich developing countries have an immense opportunity to accelerate progress on the SDGs

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, speaks at the high-level meeting on critical energy transition minerals

UN/NY: As demand for critical minerals nearly triples by 2030, resource-rich developing countries have an immense opportunity to diversify their economies and accelerate progress on the SDGs.
Resource-rich developing countries must be able to move beyond raw extraction toward processing, refining and downstream manufacturing. This requires technology transfer on concessional terms, skills development and investment. Hence, we welcome the Task Force’s cluster on value addition as a practical mechanism to support this shift.
