The European Council, the top policy-making body of the European Union, on Tuesday decided to maintain restrictive measures against Iran under the non-proliferation sanctions regime, according to a statement on its website.
The council said that it had “valid reasons” to refrain from lifting these restrictions on Transition Day (October 18, 2023), as originally foreseen under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA), the statement said.
