NPC to strengthen legislative exchanges with Nepalese parliament

The National People’s Congress (NPC) is willing to work with the Nepalese parliament to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies, China’s top legislator Zhao Leji said on Monday.

Zhao, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, made the remarks when meeting with Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in Beijing.

Zhao called on the two sides to consolidate strategic mutual trust, carry forward traditional friendship, jointly build the Belt and Road with high quality, and continue to support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns.

Nepal firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is willing to deepen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields and promote the bilateral strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity to achieve fruitful results, Prachanda said.

Prachanda is on an official visit to China from September 23 to 30. During the visit, he also attended the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in the eastern Chinese city Hangzhou.
