Can U.S. Congress work together to prevent shutdown?

The possibility of a U.S. government shutdown looms large as Congressional disagreements continue. 

With the October 1 deadline fast approaching, tension mounts in Washington. A shutdown could halt essential services and impact federal employees. Both parties face internal rifts holding back a bipartisan agreement.
