Gobi wonderland draws crowds with daily shows and film-set scenery

Karamay, Xinjiang, dubbed “the world’s Devil City,” hosts a daily opening ceremony with ethnic dances, parades, and live adventure showcases like camel rides and UTV tours. Set against the stunning Yardang landform, the morning show immerses visitors in Gobi culture and recreation. The unique rock formations, which have served as a backdrop for many films, draw movie buffs and travelers alike, and with hotels nearly full on weekends and tours booked through summer, the destination is seeing a major tourism surge.
