Graphics: Travel, consumption boom during National Day holiday

China’s National Day holiday, running from October 1 to 7, witnessed a significant tourism and consumption boom, with a remarkable growth in passenger trips and a notable surge in box office revenues, official data showed.

Around 2 billion cross-regional passenger trips took place across the country during the seven-day holiday, with an average daily growth rate of 3.9 percent year on year, according to data released by the Ministry of Transport.

The total number and daily average of inbound and outbound travelers during the holiday reached 13.1 million and 1.87 million, respectively, according to data from the National Immigration Administration.

The box office takings for the holiday reached 2.1 billion yuan, according to the China Film Administration. Leading the charts are three movies: “The Volunteers: The Battle of Life and Death,” “Tiger Wolf Rabbit,” and “Bureau 749.”
