Bangkok: A leading German leisure airline, Condor, has resumed flights to the Thai kingdom, with the operation of four flights a week from Frankfurt to Bangkok and three flights a week to Phuket, boosting Eurasian connectivity under the Silk Road Spirit of mutual cooperation.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) stated in its news report.

In her remarks, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The resumption of Condor’s Frankfurt-Bangkok and Frankfurt-Phuket routes is a welcome sign for Thailand. We look forward to welcoming more holidaymakers from Germany to immerse in unique travel experiences in destinations up and down the kingdom.”

TAT marked the resumption of Condor’s Frankfurt-Bangkok flight (DE2362), which landed this late morning, with a traditional Thai welcome ceremony at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The inaugural flight (AY155) was welcomed by a delegation of high-ranking tourism and business executives. This included the TAT Governor; Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, the Americas, Middle East, and Africa; Mrs. Chiravadee Khunsub, TAT Executive Director for the Americas Region, and Mr. Watcharayu Kuawong, Director of TAT Frankfurt Office.

Meanwhile, the inaugural Frankfurt-Phuket flight (DE2368) landed yesterday morning at Phuket International Airport for a special welcome event.

Condor is utilising an Airbus A330neo for the flights to Thailand. The 310-seat aircraft is configured in three classes: Business (30 seats), Premium Economy (64 seats) and Economy (216 seats).

With the addition of Condor’s flights, airlines serving between Germany and Thailand include Thai Airways International, with daily flights on the Bangkok-Frankfurt and Bangkok-Munich routes, and Lufthansa, with a daily service on the Bangkok-Munich route.

Based on TAT’s data, forward bookings from the German market for the October – December 2024 period, as of August 2024, have increased by 22 per cent when compared the same period in 2023. Contributing to this favourable performance include long-weekend holidays and the upcoming New Year’s 2025 Countdown.

Thailand year recorded about 87 percent of the German visitors the country had in 2019 pre-pandemic year, or totalling 729,163 tourists. The revenue generated from the market amounted to 43.18 billion Baht, representing a rebound of 83 percent.

Thailand’s tourism sector is set for a major boost in the latter half of the year, with expected revenues of 1.46 trillion baht, pushing the annual total to 2.8 trillion baht—25% higher than last year, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
