Nanning: China and ASEAN need to foster a new pattern of all-round connectivity and jointly build the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor at a high level, and make solid progress in the development of important economic corridors and key projects, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang made these remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 21st China-ASEAN Expo.
The 21st China-ASEAN Expo kicked off on the 24th in Nanning,south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Sept. 24, 2024 with attendance of over 3,000 enterprises, business leaders, entrepreneurs, regional leaders, global industry experts, scholars & from ASEAN, Greater Asia and Africa.
China is willing to work with ASEAN to deepen practical cooperation and write a new chapter in building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future, said Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang calling the participating business leaders and entrepreneurs to forge win-win partnerships with Chinese partners under the Silk Road Spirit of mutual cooperation.
Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, delivering his remarks at the China-ASEAN Young Leaders’ Roundtable Dialogue commended the youth for their commitment to building connections and engaging in meaningful discussions about the future of ASEAN-China relations.
“China’s youth have been instrumental in driving digital innovation, leveraging their tech-savvy skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Young Chinese entrepreneurs have launched successful startups like ByteDance, which created TikTok, and Pinduoduo, transforming e-commerce, entertainment, content creation and even cultural trends not only within China but also across the globe. Chinese youth also excel in fields such as artificial intelligence and fintech, often participating in hackathons and incubators that foster creativity and innovation. This vibrant tech culture has propelled China to the forefront of technological advancement, becoming a key player in the global digital economy” he stated.
Finally, to all the youth delegates here today, I urge you to dive into discussions, get involved in practical projects, join exchange programs, and seize every opportunity to contribute to your communities, your nations, to ASEAN and to ASEAN-China, Dr. Kao concluded.
“The automotive industry is important in Thailand. The Thai government has launched a number of measures including the Thailand 4.0 strategy to encourage the development of the auto manufacturing industry… and we welcome Chinese auto enterprises to invest in Thailand,” Ekanit Romyanon, inspector general of Thailand’s Ministry of Industry, said during a China-ASEAN Automotive Industry Cooperation and Development Forum of the expo.
China and Thailand can enhance vehicle-sector cooperation in trade facilitation, including harmonization of technical regulations, recognition of testing and certification, and mutual recognition arrangements in the auto sector. Supply chain integration and resilience are also needed in future collaboration, Romyanon said.
Commenting on China ASEAN Expo2024 promoting international economic and trade cooperation Wang Peng, an associate research fellow at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times,
“With the implementation of the RCEP and the deepening of the construction of the China-ASEAN FTA, cooperation between the two sides has been expanding. In addition to the traditional areas of trade and investment, collaboration in emerging areas such as the auto industry and digital economy is also expected to be deepened”.
China-ASEAN cooperation has set a good example for regional collaboration, helping stabilize global supply and industrial chains, as well as injecting momentum into the world’s economic development.
Some 27 🇵🇰 enterprises are participating in the Expo. Sardar Muhammad, Acting Consul, represented Pakistan in the Opening Ceremony of the 21st China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning.
He held meetings with Chinese Vice Premier H.E Ding Xuexiang and other dignitaries addressed the gatherings aimed boosting bilateral and regional cooperation.
#CAEXPO is an annual trade gathering seen as an important platform to promote and facilitate the economic cooperation between China and ASEAN.

A total of 109 projects signed at the 21st China-ASEAN Expo, including 16 international economic and trade cooperation projects with ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Laos.
Bilateral trade between China and ASEAN reached $552 billion in January-July this year, up 7.7 percent year-on-year.
