China dominate badminton events to reach 200 golds at Asian Games

Chinese athletes won 13 of the 45 gold medals awarded at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China’s Zhejiang Province, on Saturday, with dominant performances in badminton.
China won three of the five badminton golds on Saturday. Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong beat Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino 2-0 (21-15 and 21-14) in the mixed doubles final. Two Chinese players, Li Shifeng and Shi Yuqi, met in the men’s singles final. Li defeated Shi 2-0 (23-21 and 21-13) to win the title.
China’s long-time women’s doubles ace pair, Chen Qingquan and Jia Yifan, faced Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee in the event’s final. After 78 minutes of competitions, Chen and Jia claimed the victory 2-0 (21-18 and 21-17).

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India pocketed the badminton men’s doubles title with a 2-0 win (21-18 and 21-16) over the South Korean pair of Choi Sol-gyu and Kim Won-ho. An Se-young of South Korea defeated Chen Yufei of China 2-1 (21-18, 17-21 and 21-8)
The Chinese women’s national volleyball team kept a perfect recordthroughout all of the five matches they played before the event’s final against Japan on Saturday night. This record was carried on into the gold medal match in which China beat their opponents 25-15, 25-21 and 25-21.
Chinese athletes did well not only on the court, but also on the board. Two teammates, Wang Linna and Zuo Wenjing, met in the xiangqi women’s individual final. Zuo edged Wang 2-0 to take the gold. The men’s individual final of the sport was between two Chinese players as well. In the end, Zheng Weitong edged Zhao Xinxin to get the title, which marked the 200th gold won by the host country.

In the two sports that were more about displaying beauty instead of coming into confrontation, Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi won the artistic swimming gold for China while Liu “671” Qingyi claimed the women’s title in breakdancing.
Gor Minasyan set the new Asian Games record of the weightlifting men’s 109-kilogram group with 212 kilograms in snatch, 245 kilograms in jerk-and-clean, and 457 kilograms in total.
South Korea beat Japan 2-1 to win the football men’s final, winning the event’s gold for the third straight time.
