Suzhou: Harnessing cultural assets to enhance comprehensive strength


Cultural soft power can also be a solid principle for achieving economic development. CGTN reporter Hou Jing visits Suzhou City in east China’s Jiangsu Province to delve deeper into China’s modernization journey, on it’s 75th year. Suzhou has gained online popularity through the integration of characteristic gardens with modern architecture and the inheritance and innovation of Wu-language as well as Kunqu opera. Moreover, the city has seen the development of millennia-old handicrafts into more “specialized and innovative” enterprises, paving a path for its modernization.
