Amman, Dec. 3 (BNA): Wael Duwairi, Secretary-General of the Water Authority of Jordan, met with Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison, French Ambassador to Jordan, to discuss ongoing initiatives and future prospects for cooperation on critical water and sanitation projects.
According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Duwairi outlined the Water Authority’s progress on several major projects funded by France, emphasizing the importance of timely completion to meet the country’s growing water demands. The two sides explored opportunities to deepen their partnership in addressing Jordan’s water challenges through innovative solutions and shared expertise.
The two officials reviewed the €98 million Ramtha-Sahel Horan wastewater project, currently under review by consultants, which includes the development of pipelines, transmission lines, and pumping stations. They also discussed the €100 million project for upgrading the Madaba wastewater network and treatment plant, for which contractor bidding is underway.
Other projects discussed included the €70 million wastewater initiative for Northeast Balqa, which is in the tendering phase, and a €600,000 study on wastewater systems for the Al Sukhna area.
In addition, the two sides explored continued cooperation in training and capacity-building efforts through the Water Authority’s specialized training center.
The ambassador commended the efforts of the Authority and emphasized France’s commitment to supporting Jordan’s water sector, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration to achieve sustainable water management solutions for both nations.
