Bahrain highlights cultural heritage at UNESCO Arab Week in Paris

Paris, Nov. 7 (BNA): Bahrain participated in the Arab Week held at the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris on November 4-5.

The event was organised by the Arab Group at UNESCO, chaired by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and initiated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The event featured 22 Arab pavilions, with each country showcasing its cultural heritage, traditions, history, and various facets of its civilisation. Arab Week also provided a platform to enhance intercultural dialogue.

As part of the initiative, seminars covered topics such as the Arabic language, calligraphy, literature, artificial intelligence, arts, and intangible cultural heritage. Additionally, academic sessions were held with experts and specialists.

Bahrain’s pavilion highlighted various aspects of its intangible cultural heritage, acquainting international visitors with the richness of its culture and its historical role as a cultural hub.

The Arab Week at UNESCO aims to foster intercultural dialogue, raise awareness of Arab cultural heritage, and strengthen cooperation between Arab states and UNESCO in cultural domains.

The event also seeks to encourage new partnerships and launch collaborative initiatives that contribute to the sustainability of Arab Week as a platform for cultural exchange and dialogue.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) organised Bahrain’s participation in coordination with the Bahraini Embassy in France and Bahrain’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO.
