Envoy: Peoples of both Azerbaijan and Mexico managed to preserve their identity
Mexicans have managed to preserve and maintain their traditions and identity, despite the country having gone through many difficult moments in its history, the Mexican Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Maria Victoria Romero Caballero, said at an exhibition dedicated to the Day of the Dead, which is celebrated on November 1-2, Report informs.
“First of all, as a Mexican, I would like to note that I am proud of the Day of the Dead because this holiday introduces the world to our traditions and ancient history. It appeared even before the Spanish came to our continent. Today we remember our relatives who have passed away using certain symbols and elements. Additionally, I have witnessed that Mexico and Azerbaijan have much in common. The cultures of both countries have a thousand-year history, and despite various historical events, we have managed to preserve our identity,” she said.
Regarding her country’s government plans, the ambassador noted that the Mexican delegation will participate in the COP29 climate conference. The delegation will include the Deputy Foreign Minister of Mexico and other officials.
“Mexico will work to contribute to all climate negotiations and, consequently, to making important decisions for our future and the environment at COP29. At the same time, Mexico will pay special attention to the theme of unity and equality,” she added.
