Shanghai: The 7th China International Import Expo, CIIE2024, opened on Tuesday in the robust financial city of Shanghai, showing China’s attractiveness, innovations, high quality opening up, high quality development, connectivity, and global cooperation opportunities.
CIIE, the world’s first national-level exposition dedicated to imports, is set to be held from Nov. 5 to 10, 2024, featuring 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions.
Some 297 companies and industry leading enterprises are participating in #CIIE2024, showcasing innovations, high quality opening up, high quality development.
More than 400 new products, new technologies and new services are being displayed at the expo, which experts believe is a strong indication of global companies’ confidence in the Chinese market and their commitment to further development in China despite a sluggish global economic recovery.
Frequent participants of the expo have also praised the event for fostering business opportunities in trade, transportation, digital economy, and green transition.
The 7th China International Import Expo showcases China’s commitment to global trade exchanges, technological innovation, and multilateral cooperation, highlighting its role in promoting economic opportunities and addressing global challenges through collaboration and openness.
The global trade fair in Shanghai showcases record participation from 152 countries and 297 Fortune Global 500 companies, emphasizing China’s economic opportunities and commitment to global trade.
The 7th CIIE as industrial and trade event aims to inspire local entrepreneurs, demonstrates China’s economic appeal for the world, and the international community’s confidence in economic outlook of China, a global trading power house.
Experts say China’s Belt and Road Initiative has achieved remarkable results over 10+ years, boosting trade, investment, and infrastructure projects in participating countries, serving as a key driver for high-quality development.
CIEE also showcases that China has made remarkable progress in digitalizing government and financial services leading to the development of digital economy crossing billions of dollars.

The CIIE has drawn over 15,000 patients in China, with local and global companies expressing strong confidence in China’s pharmaceutical sector policies, focusing on high-quality development and innovation.
China’s opening-up policy allows the country to leverage its comparative advantage, specialize in areas of relative strength, and contribute to common prosperity while sharing in global economic growth.
The Belt and Road Initiative has supported numerous training programs for foreign government officials, business leaders, and young startups, fostering understanding of China’s intentions and paving the way for further cooperation during the CIIIE.

China will open its doors wider to the outside world, regardless of how the international environment changes, Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday made the remarks during his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) being attending by the traders, entrepreneurs, CEO, industry leaders and heads of the states.
Speaking about China’s economic outlook in 2024, Premier Li said “despite a sluggish global economic recovery, China’s overall economic operations have remained generally stable and seen progress, Li added further, stressing that the Chinese market is still one of the best choices for global enterprises.

“China will continue easing market access and push for the orderly expansion of opening-up in sectors like telecommunication, education, culture and medical care, the premier noted.
He also pledged to continue improving the business environment and provide equal opportunities in accessing production factors, qualification licensing and participation in government procurement, among other areas.
Expressing optimism about Chinese economy, Li said “China will become not only an export destination for foreign enterprises, but also a land of investment and entrepreneurship, facilitating closer links between China and the global market”.
On economic globalization, premier said “Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs will continue to support economic globalization firmly, work together to promote technological advancement and industrial upgrading, and foster new growth engines for the world economy”.

At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, foreign leaders including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene and Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic attended the opening ceremony of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) and relevant events, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced Sunday.
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), said “This international expo (CIIE) provides an opportunity, not only for Chinese companies but also companies worldwide, small companies and medium enterprises to showcase their capacity and capability while attracting imports, new investments or an expansion of trade.
“Therefore, multi-country cooperation for free trade and sustainability goals must be used as a tool to advance global progress equitably, instead of as a weapon to quell competition, promote unfair advantage or create conflict”, he concluded.
Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov underscored the importance of aligning the development strategies, expanding economic and trade cooperation, strengthening connectivity infrastructure construction, and building the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway into a flagship project of the Belt and Road cooperation.

Also, Aripov spoke highly of China’s development achievements and its increasing global influence, saying China has been sharing its development opportunities and achievements with the world.
Uzbekistan firmly supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to expand practical cooperation on trade, investment, energy, manufacturing, connectivity, people-to-people exchange, and transportation and logistics.
Uzbekistan is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China within the framework of the SCO and the China-Central Asia Mechanism to promote the greater development of Uzbekistan-China relations, he said.
Delivering a speech at the opening of the 7th China International Import Expo Prime Minister of Mongolia LuvsannamsraiOyun-Erdene emphasized to deepen engagement, promote mutually beneficial cooperation with China which provides platform to open up new business and investment opportunities.
Prime Minister of Mongolia arrived on an official visit to Shanghai to participate in the 7th China International Import Expo.
The Mongolian Prime Minister was welcomed by Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng, Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Shen Minjuan, Mongolian Ambassador to China N. Enkhbold, and other officials.
