MoFA Undersecretary highlights Bahrain’s support for global peace, justice

Manama, Oct. 31 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the celebration of the 79th anniversary of the UN Charter’s entry into force, hosted by Khaled Abdul Salam El Mekwad, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bahrain.


Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed underscored Bahrain’s commitment to advancing strategic cooperation with the United Nations to strengthen the principles of peace, justice, human dignity, pluralism and multilateralism. He emphasised the importance of these values, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which aim to foster a safer, more sustainable, and prosperous world.


Dr. Shaikh Abdulla expressed pride in Bahrain’s partnership with the UN, highlighting the positive outcomes achieved under the Strategic Cooperation and Sustainable Development Framework (2021-2024) signed with 21 UN agencies.


 He noted Bahrain’s aspirations to extend this framework for another five years, solidifying its standing in international indicators for human development, e-government, women’s empowerment, youth, healthcare, and education.


He commended HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s recent address at the United Nations General Assembly, which highlighted Bahrain’s advancements in sustainable development, digital transformation, and the proposed treaty for the regulation of artificial intelligence development.


HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister reiterated Bahrain’s support for the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN’s Future Agenda, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence and cultural diversity, in line with Bahrain’s proactive role at the 33rd Arab Summit, which was attended by the UN Secretary General.


On his part, El Mekwad underscored the UN’s commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation with Bahrain, supporting the Kingdom’s pursuit of sustainable development in its economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
