Dubai, Oct. 24 (BNA): The Arab Reading Challenge, under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, is the largest cultural initiative aimed at promoting a love for reading among Arab students.
The initiative focuses on fostering creativity, intellectual development, and a sense of pride in the Arabic language and culture. Emirati writer Gaith Al Hosani highlighted the significance of free reading as a “civilisational tool,” while UAE student Areej Ashmawi praised the challenge for nurturing “the mind and intellect.”, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The initiative also empowers People of Determination, like Sulaiman Al-Awali, who said, “Reading opens vast doors of knowledge.” The programme extends globally, with participants from 28 non-Arab countries, such as Ikram from Russia, who said it strengthens “cultural identity and pride.” The challenge aims to develop national pride, belonging, and awareness of the importance of the Arabic language for younger generations.
This initiative is part of its core objectives to raise public awareness of the state of reading in the Arab world, enhance national pride, and foster a sense of belonging.
