Camels: Man's best friend in the desert
Camels have proven to be a vital and reliable friend to humans in the desert.
In the Badain Jaran Desert in Alxa League, Inner Mongolia, where some 68,000 camels thrive, herders have developed a trusting and interdependent relationship with the Bactrian camels they keep.
In spring and summer, the herders release the camels into the Badain Jaran Desert. When winter comes, they drive the camels out of the desert to winter pastures to ensure they are well fed in the colder months. These beautiful photos of their interaction are a testament to this enduring relationship.
