SCZONE chairman posts French businessmen on investment opportunities in Egypt

MARSEILLE/CAIRO – Egypt is a magnet for many investment opportunities that are up for grabs by French businesspeople, said chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamaleddin Wednesday.

Addressing a session on “Doing Business in Egypt: Challenges, Opportunities and Best Practices”, Gamaleddin pinpointed opportunities in the maritime sector and logistics services.

The session was held in Marseille, Gamaleddin’s second stop on a tour of France with the aim to promote investments in Egypt. The session comes as part of an Egyptian-French Business Forum, which kicked off in France Monday.

Gamaleddin spoke of efforts to upgrade the SCZONE’s infrastructure to meet international standards. This included setting up environmental and legal frameworks to create a sustainable and an investment-friendly climate, he explained.

He also talked about financial and non-financial incentives, not to mention the Suez Canal’s strategic location, which helps reduce the cost of transportation.

Investors will also benefit from trained human cadres, diversified energy resources and competitive prices, Gamaleddin said.

The SCZONE provides services through its one-stop shop, from which investors could apply to obtain all licenses needed to start their businesses, he noted.
