Lebanese PM discusses with French FM developments of Israeli aggression on Lebanon
BEIRUT – Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday welcomed French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot at the Beirut Grand Serail in the presence of French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro and Prime Minister’s diplomatic advisor Ambassador Boutros Asaker, said the Lebanese news agency.
During the meeting, Mikati reaffirmed that “the key to a solution lies in halting the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and returning to the call issued by the United States, France, and supported by the European Union and various Arab and foreign nations for a ceasefire.”
Moreover, Mikati emphasized that “the priority is the implementation of UN Resolution 1701.”
In response, Barrot underscored “the priority of electing a president and working towards ending armed confrontations.” He reiterated France’s commitment to supporting Lebanon and its people in all aspects, highlighting the importance of aiding the Lebanese Army during these critical stages.
