On September 28, China Media Group (CMG) hosted the special event “Written in the Sky: My China Story” in New York to celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

CMG President Shen Haixiong delivered a speech via video. The event attracted nearly 100 guests, including Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng, President of Kean University Lamont Repollet, President of the Alliance of Global Talent Organizations and the recipient of the China National Friendship Award Denis Simon, and President and CEO of the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations David Firestein.

Shen mentioned that, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, this special event received over 1,600 stories from more than 60 countries. These stories convey the shared emotions and aspirations of people worldwide, showcasing deep cultural and emotional connections, he added.

Ambassador Xie pointed out that there has been a long tradition of letter exchanges between China and the U.S., documenting the genuine feelings and stories between the people of the two nations. The event, through these “letters,” highlights the history of seeking common ground and peaceful coexistence between China and the U.S. and the persistent efforts of their people to bridge differences and foster mutual understanding, he added. Xie called for more dialogue and less suspicion, as well as more cooperation and less competition between the two countries.

Simon stressed that exchanges between the peoples of China and the U.S., especially among the younger generations, benefit both countries and the world. He expressed hope that the people of both nations will enhance communication to tackle global challenges together.

Firestein remarked that the economies of China and the U.S. are closely interconnected, with the need for cooperation in various sectors. He emphasized that both sides should continue promoting exchange and collaboration to achieve sustainable development in their relationship.

The event was covered by 1,255 mainstream media outlets from 70 countries and regions.
