The Ministry of Social Solidarity has organised a four-day training workshop for journalists and other media figures on “How media handles Ministry of Social Solidarity issues.”
The workshop, sponsored by Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi, was held in Ain Sokhna.
The workshop, featured participation by several ministry officials, and was opened by Mohamed al-Aqabi, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and Media and the official spokesman for the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
Al-Aqabi offered the attendees a general vision of the ministry’s new strategy and goals over the coming period.
For his part, Ayman Abdel Mawgood, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Civil Society Organisation Affairs, reviewed the ministry’s efforts in civil work.
He also tackled the broad partnership between the ministry and the civil society, which is seen as the ministry’s executive arm in implementing several development projects.
Raafat Shafiq, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Social Protection and Programmes to Support Social Safety Networks, Economic Empowerment and Human Development, offered the participant journalists an explanation of the methodology for targeting the Takaful and Karama programme for conditional cash support.
In addition, Director General of the Ministry’s General Administration for the Elderly Mahmoud Shaaban, offered a detailed account of the ministry’s strategy and vision for achieving protection and stability for the elderly people.
The ministry aims to protect the elderly’s their rights from negative social phenomena through a set of activities and programmes that aim to raise their social level and achieve security and social justice.
Taking part in sessions, Executive Director of the Life Makers Egypt Foundation, Ahmed Mousa, highlighted the efforts of the “Ahsan Sahib” (best buddy) initiative to integrate persons with disabilities into the society, which is being carried out in partnership with the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, and the National Alliance for Private Developmental Action.
The final day of the workshop featured participation of journalist Fatima Sayed Ahmed who gave a lecture on “Social Solidarity and National Security,” reviewing the state’s efforts to build humans, and the many initiatives to improve Egyptian citizens’ living conditions.
Certificates of appreciation were offered to participant journalists.
