Premier Li urges Japanese PM to handle radioactive water responsibly

Chinese Premier Li Qiang urged Japan to handle the nuclear-contaminated wastewater in a responsible manner, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Thursday while commenting on a brief conversation between Premier Li Qiang and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Indonesia.

Li held a brief chat with Kishida at the latter’s invitation on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the leaders’ meetings on East Asia cooperation held in Jakarta, the spokesperson added.

Li urged Japan to faithfully fulfill its international obligations, fully consult with its neighbors and related stakeholders, and handle the nuclear-contaminated wastewater in a responsible manner, Mao said.
