Egypt warns of risks of starting new war in Lebanon

Egypt has warned of risks of starting a new warfront in Lebanon following recent incidents in Majdal Shams village in the occupied Golan Heights of Syria.

This could lead to a comprehensive regional war, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

Cairo stressed the need to protect the Lebanese people and institutions against the ravages of war.

Egypt called on the international players to immediately intervene to spare peoples in the region further disastrous repercussions of a widened conflict, warning this would also threaten world peace and security.

It, once again, underlined risks posed by the continued Israeli war in Gaza, and urged action to reach an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire that would end the humanitarian suffering in the besieged enclave.
