Egypt condemns storming of Al Aqsa mosque by Israeli minister
Egypt, in a statement issued on Thursday, emphasized the risks of such measures and irresponsible escalation which Egypt has repeatedly raised alarm over them.
It added that the coincidence of this escalation with the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip as well as the repeated incursions into the West Bank affirms insistence on fueling the sentiments and tensions, not only among the Palestinian people, but also among the Muslim peoples across the globe.
Egypt called on the Israeli government to respect the legal and historical status of Jerusalem, where the iconic Islamic endowment Al-Aqsa Mosque is located.
It urged the active international parties in the international community to shoulder their responsibilities in advocating the Palestinian rights, respecting Islamic and Christian holy sites, along with putting an end to the repeated Israeli violations.
Egypt underscored that it will uphold its efforts aiming at reaching a just, permanent and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, subsequently ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 1967, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital.
