Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Thursday urged the Czech side to view China’s development in a rational and pragmatic manner.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during his meeting with Czech National Security Adviser Tomas Pojar in Beijing,
Noting China and the Czech Republic are traditionally friendly, Wang said China has always viewed the relations between the two countries from a long-term strategic perspective and is willing to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the Czech side to promote common development.
In order to promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-Czech relations, Wang emphasized the necessity of abiding by each other’s political commitments, respecting each other’s autonomy and territorial integrity, adhering to non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, and safeguarding the political foundation of bilateral relations.
He called on the two sides to promote mutual understanding and carry out mutually beneficial cooperation, which are in the interests of both sides.
Pojar said the Czech side is willing to promote the development of relations with China in a pragmatic manner, and is ready to strengthen cooperation and conduct more exchanges with the Chinese side to enhance mutual understanding and lay a solid foundation for the long-term development of relations between the two sides.
The Czech side adheres to the one-China policy, he reiterated, adding the Czech Republic attaches importance to China’s position on Ukraine and other international and regional issues, and is willing to strengthen communication with China.
