Israeli strike on Gaza hospital kills Palestinian teen in wheelchair

[ad_1]

An Israeli drone strike on a hospital compound in northern Gaza on Thursday killed a 16-year-old boy in a wheelchair and injured at least 12 others, including medical staff, according to the Gaza Health Ministry and the hospital director.

Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the few still partially operational in northern Gaza, is located in an area where Israeli forces have been intensifying their offensive, effectively blocking humanitarian aid for the past two months.

Earlier Thursday, the human rights group Amnesty International accused Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip amid its airstrikes on Palestine, claiming it deliberately targeted Palestinians by launching deadly attacks, destroying vital infrastructure, and blocking the delivery of food, medicine, and other aid.

Contrary to what is on the ground, Israel says it goes to great lengths to avoid harming civilians as it battles Hamas.

Israel’s rampage on Palestinians has destroyed vast areas of Gaza and displaced 90% of the population of 2.3 million, often multiple times.

The latest conflict began following Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 incursion on southern Israel that killed about 1,200 people and took around 250 people hostage.

Israel’s retaliatory offensive has killed at least 44,500 Palestinians, more than half of them women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Israel says it has killed over 17,000 Hamas members, without providing evidence.
