Communication min. lauds efforts of African countries participating in 2nd global dialogue on AI

Egypt’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat said that, during the 2nd Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI) held in Cairo, more than 20 African and non-African countries in addition to international organizations were hosted to discuss the mechanisms of implementing the artificial intelligence strategy for Africa.

Talaat lauded the efforts of the African countries that participated in this work via the AU’s Working Group on AI.

This came during Talaat’s presiding over the concluding session of the 2nd Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence between the AU’s Working Group on AI and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) hosted in Egypt on November 21 to direct the efforts towards implementing the AU continental strategy for AI.

This comes in light of the mechanisms of the AU’s action and within the framework of Egypt’s presidency of the AU’s Working Group on AI.

Member states of the AU’s Working Group on AI, OECD, AI experts from Africa in addition to research centers and prominent universities in Europe participated in the meeting.

The meeting crowned the efforts that started since 2019 when Egypt called on the African states via the AU to form a working group to put a strategy for AI in Africa, he said.
