Iran, Armenia, India plan meeting on transportation: Ambassador
Iranian, Armenian and Indian officials have agreed to hold a meeting on trilateral cooperation in the transportation sector, Iran’s ambassador to Yerevan said.
Speaking to reporters in Kapan, the capital of Armenia’s Syunik province, Mahdi Sobhani said on Thursday that agreements have been reached to hold a meeting among Iran, Armenia and India on public transportation.
The Iranian ambassador noted that further arrangements are needed to set a date for the meeting.
He said cooperation in the transportation sector will benefit the three countries, highlighting the “positive viewpoint” on trilateral interaction.
Sobhani also reiterated Iran’s opposition to any geopolitical change in the region, saying Iran is averse to using the term “Zangezur” for a corridor that is designed to link the Republic of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan without Armenian checkpoints.
Iran, however, favors the removal of the border barriers that are under the national and territorial sovereignty of Armenia, he stated.
