Victorious, ABH teams maintain lead in Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour

Manama, Nov. 7 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), the fourth Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour for Amateurs continued with its second stage, covering a 65 kilometre route in Sakhir.


The event drew extensive participation from cyclists across Bahrain, including residents and riders from GCC countries. Competitors faced strong winds, adding to the intensity of the race.


The second stage concluded with a ceremony to crown the winners, attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Cycling Association; Ahmed Al Haj, Director of the Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour; Abdulhameed Mulla Bakheet representing Al Salam Bank; and Ahmed Al Buainain, member of the Bahrain Cycling Association.


In the Bahraini category, Hussain Aqeel Thamer of the Bahrain Giant team secured first place. He was followed by Mohammed Isa Al Ghais and Mohammed Hassan Jawad, both from the Victorious team.


In the open category, which includes Bahrainis, GCC nationals, and foreign residents, Saeed Hassan from the Dubai Police team claimed first place. Ahmed Madan from Victorious finished second, while Hilal Jaber from ABH took third place.


In terms of standings, Mohammed Isa Al Ghais retained both the yellow jersey as the overall leader and the red jersey for the highest points. In the Under-23 category, Hussain Aqeel Thamer of Bahrain Giant maintained his position, keeping the blue jersey, while Aqeel Thamer of Bahrain Giant also retained the green jersey as the leader in the Over-40 category.



In the open category for GCC nationals and foreign residents, Hilal Jaber from ABH retained the grey jersey for best overall time and highest points. Jassim Mohammed from Naseej held onto the purple jersey in the Under-23 category, while Kevin Orlandi from Victorious retained the pink jersey as the leader in the Over-40 category.

The third stage is scheduled for Friday, covering 153 kilometres across various areas of Bahrain, beginning at Marassi Bahrain.
