Iran’s economy minister pledges action to normalize Iran’s status with FATF
Iran’s Economy Minister, Abdolnaser Hemmati, announced that necessary steps are being taken to suspend the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) measures against Iran. He stated that the Ministry of Economic Affairs is following up on essential actions to lift restrictions, aiming to protect national interests.
In a post on his Instagram account, Hemmati elaborated on the significance of normalizing Iran’s status with FATF. He highlighted that such a move would help remove financial restrictions imposed by over 200 countries and international organizations against Iranian individuals and entities, effectively countering US-led efforts to isolate Iran’s financial system.
Hemmati emphasized that suspending the FATF’s measures would allow for normalized banking relations for Iranians worldwide, benefiting students, traders, and economic activists.
Furthermore, he noted that the US would face increased costs in pressuring international bodies to enforce sanctions against Iran.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, he concluded, is proceeding with necessary actions to lift these restrictions based on Iran’s national interests.
