The Montreux Jazz Festival China opened on the shore of Jinji Lake in Suzhou on October 25, 2024. Through a series of music performances and activities, the festival promotes cultural exchanges between the East and the West.
More than a hundred Chinese and foreign musicians will present over 20 performances, covering various music styles such as jazz, rock, electronic music, and pop, creating a cultural feast for the audience.
Gao Bowen, a renowned pingtan artist, demonstrated that traditional Chinese repertoires can have youthful and international expressions as the festival’s opening artist. Ida Nielsen, the “Queen of Bass,” delivered an outstanding performance, while Zhang Qiang, the Chinese Disco Queen, joined the Stevans Band from Switzerland on stage, elevating the atmosphere despite the light rain.
Over the next two days, the festival will feature Earth, Wind & Fire Experience by Al McKay, one of the world’s best R&B groups, and Joey Alexander, the first Indonesian musician to perform at the Grammy Awards.
Additionally, the festival includes sunrise Pilates experiences, lakeside cycling tours, and midnight swing dance parties.
