Iran president presents next year budget bill to parliament

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian presented a $182.6 billion budget bill for the country’s next fiscal year to the Parliament on Tuesday.

Addressing the lawmakers before presenting the budget bill, the president said that the government has tried to be honest with the people and the lawmakers, offering real figures and making promises which it deems to be possible.  

Supporting the less privileged classes of the society and reducing the inequality gap are among top agendas of the government, Pezeshkian said, also pledging to ensure the people’s partnership in the economy.   

The also referred to the tensions across the region and threats facing Iran, noting that the next year budget bill seeks to further strengthen the country’s defensive capabilities.

He said that achieving more economic growth and curbing inflation are among top goals of the country’s seventh development plan which are also paid due attention in drafting the next year budget bill.  

The president also noted that the budget bill has doubled the minimum level of wages exempted from tax payments. He added that the bill adopts 20% taxes to legal entities.
