Ashgabat: Ashgabat, the Turkmen capital, has hosted the forum titled “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development,”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi.

Magtymguly Fragi is the pride of the Turkmen people, the outstanding poet and thinker, and the founder of classical Turkmen literature.

Magtymguly Fragi made unprecedented contribution on the cultural and intellectual heritage of the region, especially in the literary and national identity of Turkmenistan, and continues to inspire generations in different parts of the world.

The heads of the states were welcomed by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdi Muhammadov who chaired the forum,  attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian, heads of parliaments and high-ranking representatives of foreign countries, heads of international and regional organizations.

The leaders from Eurasian region spoke on the need to boost regional connectivity and cooperation for peace and development under the Silk Road Spirit of dialogue and mutual respect.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also arrived in Ashgabat to attend the international forum, and met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the visit, Putin to delivered a speech at the forum’s plenary session and to held several one-on-one meetings.

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov told journalists earlier that Putin and Pezeshkian had discussed both bilateral issues and the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East.

On cooperation in Eurasia, the strategic partnership between Russia and Turkmenistan has been successful, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the Turkmen parliament’s upper house speaker, former Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Ashgabat.

“The strategic partnership between Russia and Turkmenistan has been developing successfully, much thanks to your efforts, as you laid the foundation of those relations,” Putin told Berdimuhamedow.

He commended Russian-Turkmen trade and economic relations and said that both countries kept working on new projects to develop bilateral relations through the intergovernmental commission.

Close relations are being maintained at the regional level, Putin said. “Interregional relations are developing well, and 60 constituent territories of the Russian Federation have sustainable ties with friends and partners in Turkmenistan,” he said. Tatarstan, the Astrakhan region and St. Petersburg are leading in terms of cooperation with Turkmenistan, Putin said.

Putin holds meeting with the Iranian president.

Relations with Iran are a priority for us, and they are progressing very successfully,” Putin said.

He remarked that trade turnover between the two countries has grown this year, following a decline last year, and noted the positive overall trend.

Putin emphasized the alignment between Russia and Iran on various international issues, pointing out that both nations often share similar perspectives on global events.

He also congratulated Iran on becoming a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, and invited Pezeshkian to the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan on Oct. 23-24, where another bilateral meeting is planned.

Pezeshkian agreed that relations between the two nations are improving across cultural, economic, and social domains, and acknowledged that the supreme leader of Iran encourages the strengthening of these ties.

“Our principles and international positions align closely with yours, and I am hopeful that our country will soon become a full member of BRICS as well,” he added.

In a separate statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin also met briefly with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, during which the two leaders exchanged invitations to visit their respective countries on official visits. Both leaders agreed to strengthen bilateral ties in all areas.

According to Peskov, Putin also met with Numan Kurtulmus, speaker of the Turkish Grand Assembly, and they “briefly exchanged views in continuation of the conversations that we had recently in Moscow.”

Putin said he is looking forward to meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the BRICS summit in Kazan on October 22-24.

On September 25, Putin and Kurtulmus met in Moscow as part of the Turkish parliament speaker’s official visit.

  • Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari highlights the need to improve railroad connectivity

In his meeting with the Speaker of Turkish Parliament, President Asif Ali Zardari highlighted the need to improve railroad connectivity between Pakistan and Turkiye to boost trade and economic cooperation as well as people-to-people contacts.

He called for further improving bilateral ties and exchanges of delegations to bring the two brotherly countries further closer. President Asif Ali Zardari and the Speaker of Turkiye’s Parliament, Numan Kurtulmus, held a meeting in Ashgabat on the sidelines of the International Forum on “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development”, today.

Addressing the forum, the Pakistani President emphasized an enhanced focus on the promotion of regional connectivity as well as cultural and economic collaboration in the region.

The president of Pakistan, addressing the forum said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan shared a deep-rooted bond of brotherhood which was built on mutual respect and commonalities of faith and a shared vision for a better and peaceful future.

In his speech, the Head of our State emphasized that holding the forum is an important step towards strengthening brotherly ties and bringing peoples closer together, as well as broad popularization of region’s rich spiritual heritage throughout the world.

The event concluded with the adoption of the Forum’s Final document, highlighting that the creative heritage of Magtymguly Fragi who not only enriched Oriental, but also the world literature.
