Egypt, Cambodia discuss signing air transport agreement


Cairo, Oct. 9 (BNA): Sameh El Hefny, the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, met with Uk Sarun, the Cambodian Ambassador to Egypt, to discuss a proposed civil aviation agreement aimed at enhancing trade, economic collaboration, and tourism between the two nations.

The minister underscored the strong bilateral relations, noting that Egypt was among the first African and Arab countries to establish diplomatic and cultural ties with Cambodia, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

Minister El Hefny affirmed the importance of cooperation between the civil aviation authorities of both countries, suggesting that coordination sessions could facilitate the signing of an air transport agreement, thereby boosting air traffic and freight services.

Ambassador Sarun acknowledged Egypt’s supportive role in Africa and expressed a desire for deeper cooperation at both regional and international levels. He highlighted the significance of collaboration in freight shipping to enhance trade exchanges, particularly in light of economic developments. He noted Cambodia’s exports of agricultural products, textiles, and rubber, and pointed out Egypt’s advantageous geographical position.

Additionally, the Ambassador mentioned that Egypt is a favoured tourist destination for Cambodians eager to explore its rich cultural heritage.
