President Japarov completes his visit to Italy and Vatican

AKIPRESS.COM – The official visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to Italy and the Holy See (Vatican) held on October 2-4 has been completed, the President’s press service said.

As part of the visit to Rome on October 3, the official meeting of President Japarov with Italian President Sergio Mattarella was held.

After, the leaders of the two countries held bilateral talks, during which the sides expressed confidence that the results of talks will give additional impetus to political, economic and cultural and humanitarian relations.

The Kyrgyz President noted that this meeting is the first high level meeting between Kyrgyzstan and Italy over the past 25 years.

Then in Palazzo Chigi, there was a ceremony of official meeting of Sadyr Japarov with the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Italy George Meloni, after which bilateral talks were also held.

The sides discussed development of trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Italy, as well as on the prospects of cooperation in the fields of investment, energy, transport, logistics, tourism and other key areas.

Following the talks between Sadyr Japarov and the Italian Prime Minister George Meloni, a joint statement was adopted and a number of documents were signed.

On the same day, the head of state met with President of the Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana and Speaker of the Senate Ignazio Benito Maria La Russa.

They exchanged views on strengthening inter-parliamentary diplomacy, as well as on developing inter-parliamentary relations in the field of law making and others.

As part of the official visit of the head od state in Rome, the Kyrgyzstan park was inaugurted and a business forum was held.

On 4 October, the meeting between President Japarov and the First Lady Aigul Japorova with Pope Francis took place in the Holy See (Vatican).

During the meeting, Japarov expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his unwavering commitment to promoting high principles and ideals of peace, justice and mutual understanding among peoples and religions.

During the visit to Vatican, the President met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See (Vatican) Pietro Parolin, with whom he discussed issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Then there was a tour of the Vatican Museum and Saint Peter’s Cathedral. Having completed his official visit on October 4, Japarov returned to Bishkek.
