Preservation of architectural heritage binds past and future

The Beijing Central Axis was recently added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This iconic architectural ensemble reflects the ideal urban design of China’s capital, with its origins dating back to the 13th century. It was completed around 300 years later. As one of the best-preserved examples of traditional central axes in China, it embodies centuries of history. In this episode of “Housed in Tradition,” CGTN reporter Qi Jie visits Hong’en Taoist Temple at the northern end of the Axis to explore the special materials used in the restoration of ancient buildings.
