Egypt, US strengthen co-operation in air transport security

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny met with US Ambassador to Egypt, Herro Mustafa Garg, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss enhancing bilateral co-operation in the field of air transport security. Senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation also attended the meeting.
During the discussions, Minister El-Hefny highlighted the strong ties between Egypt and the US across various levels, praising the effective collaboration with the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). He emphasised the significant support provided by the US in bolstering aviation security, as well as efforts to combat human trafficking and reduce irregular migration between the two countries.
El-Hefny also noted the benefits of US expertise in enhancing airport security systems and implementing cutting-edge technologies for securing individuals, facilities, flights, and cargo in line with international standards. He expressed the ministry’s desire for continued co-operation and support from the US to further advance the application of these technologies.
Ambassador Mustafa praised Egypt’s progress in the aviation sector and reiterated the US’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s efforts in developing this critical industry.
