Bahrain launches national cybersecurity awareness campaign

Manama, Oct. 4 (BNA): Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC), inaugurated the Centre’s travelling awareness exhibition at its first stop in The Avenues Mall. This event marks the launch of the national cybersecurity awareness campaign, Cyber Aware Bahrain, aligned with the globally observed Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October.


The campaign aims to promote cybersecurity practices to protect the community from rising cyber risks, fostering a sense of shared responsibility within Bahraini society. It also seeks to build new partnerships to enhance cybersecurity awareness.


Shaikh Salman highlighted the support provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Bahrain’s cybersecurity sector. He emphasised that enhancing cybersecurity readiness across all sectors is essential to strengthening national security and advancing Bahrain’s economic growth in line with the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030.


He stressed the importance of collective efforts from institutions, key sectors, and individuals in building a cybersecurity-aware society, promoting growth and prosperity in a secure digital environment.


Aysha Ahmed bin Haji, Director of Outreach and Awareness at the NCSC, highlighted the need for following fundamental cybersecurity practices and using technology safely to reduce risks. She noted that the travelling exhibition is designed to communicate these messages innovatively to different age groups and sectors, reflecting the NCSC’s commitment to ensuring secure digital transformation across Bahrain. She added that Bahrain’s national cybersecurity strategy has earned international recognition, positioning the Kingdom as a leader in cybersecurity.


Ali Mohammed Al Zayani, Director of Cyber Defence at the NCSC, praised the collaborative efforts of national entities in securing and developing digital infrastructure. He highlighted the campaign’s role in fostering partnerships and cooperation to implement cybersecurity standards across key sectors.


The National Cybersecurity Centre operates under a comprehensive strategy that focuses on enhancing national cybersecurity governance, promoting international cooperation, and raising awareness through extensive programmes with institutions and sectors across Bahrain.
