Industry min. heads 7th meeting of ministrial group for industrial development

CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el-Wazir asserted the importance of the meetings of the ministerial group for industrial development as an important mechanism to improve the Egyptian industry and solve its problems.

The minister said he detected problems facing investors in the governorates of Dakahlia, Beni Suef, Sohag and Qena after meeting them, adding that these problems were solved and the necessary measures were taken.

This came during Wazir’s presidency over the 7th meeting of the ministerial group for industrial development in presence of Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Planning and International Co-operation Rania el Mashat, Minister of Public Enterprises Sector Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth Karim Badawy, Chairman of Federation of Egyptian Industries Mohamed el Sewedy, representatives of ministries, a number of leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Transport, head of building materials chamber and head of cement department in the chamber.

The meeting reviewed the requests of the cement department which included providing the necessary quantities of crude mazut to operate the factories of building materials with full production power.

Wazir said that the Petroleum Ministry will provide crude mazut as of October 1, asserting the importance of using alternative fuel for mazut in the cement industry.

The meeting tackled the future vision for localizing the industry of solar energy cells and proposals to sustain this industry in Egypt especially in light of the keenness of the Egyptian state to increase the local component in the industry of solar energy cells.

The meeting also took up a number of challenges facing the industrial zones in Sohag and Qena especially the problem of the increase in the estimation cost of fixing natural gas for factories.

Wazir necessitated probing this cost again for the different factories and working on reducing it to ease their burdens.
