Turkey in talks for imports of Iranian gas

The talks were held during a visit to Tehran with Botas General Manager Abdulvahit Fidan where he met with NIGC chief Saeed Tavakkoli, according to a statement by Botas.

During their talks, the two officials discussed pumping Iranian gas to Turkey and the transfer of gas from Turkmenistan to Turkey via Iran.

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar had earlier said that Turkey can purchase an annual 2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas from Turkmenistan through Iranian pipelines.

Turkey relies on gas imports from Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran for its annual consumption which runs over 50 bcm.
