Uzbekistan and China consider cooperation in law enforcement and security
AKIPRESS.COM – Tashkent hosted the first meeting of the Uzbekistan – China law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism on September 26, UzA reported.
The event was chaired by Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of China Chen Wenqing.
The meeting participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues of cooperation in law enforcement and security, such as the fight against international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and other forms of transnational organized crime.
The parties noted the need to continue close cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan and China, including the exchange of experience and best practices in countering modern challenges and threats.
In addition, issues of strengthening cooperation in ensuring regional security, including in Afghanistan, were discussed as well.
The deepening of practical cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices of Uzbekistan and China was considered.
During the event, initiatives and recommendations were presented to further enhance practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in security, including strengthening the legal framework and intensifying interdepartmental contacts.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Secretariat of the Security Council of Uzbekistan and the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of China following the event.
