Champion of Greco-Roman wrestling awarded in Jalal-Abad

AKIPRESS.COM – Residents of Jalal-Abad town solemnly welcomed Asan Janyshov, who won gold medal at the 2024 U20 World Championships for Greco-Roman in Spain.

The tournament was held among athletes under 20 years old and kicked off in the city of Pontevedra on September 2.

Janyshov performed in the weight category up to 82 kg.

The Kyrgyzstani won three consecutive victories over athletes from Georgia, Sweden and Romania and reached the final. In the decisive fight, Janyshov fought for the gold medal against athlete from Azerbaijan.

Thus, the Kyrgyz athlete won the early victory with the score of 8:0 and won gold medal becoming a world champion. In 2023, Janyshov won bronze medal of the World Cup (U-20) in Jordan.

The town mayor Ernisbek Ormokov, head of the city committee for physical training and sport Talasbek Nuraliyev, relatives and friends of the athlete and fans took part in the solemn meeting.

The municipality presented a horse to the athlete.
