Camels celebrated with art in Badain Jaran
Renowned as the “ships of the desert,” camels played an important role in the development of the ancient Silk Road, which connected the East and West through a network of trade routes. The deserts of Badain Jaran in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have an estimated population of about 68,000 camels. To acknowledge the species’ contribution to human civilization and cultural exchange, locals have created an exhibition space featuring camel-themed artifacts.
