iGA CE discusses AI cooperation with SDAIA President

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), met with Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), on the sidelines of the 3rd Global AI Summit 2024 in Riyadh.


The meeting, attended by Latifa Al Abbasi, Director of Innovation and Advanced Technologies at iGA, and Dr. Essam Al Wagait, Director of the National Information Center at SDAIA, focused on cooperation in artificial intelligence and data. 


Al Qaed thanked Dr. Alghamdi for the invitation to represent Bahrain at the summit, organised by Saudi Arabia in partnership with UNESCO, and commended the Kingdom’s role in hosting major global ICT events.


Al Qaed commended the summit’s success, which featured over 400 speakers across 150 sessions and more than 20,000 attendees, highlighting its focus on innovation and AI driven change. 


He emphasised the positive impact of the discussions on regional AI collaboration, particularly among GCC countries.


Al Qaed also applauded SDAIA’s initiatives, including the development of a national large language model and its leadership across sectors such as education, health, energy, and AI governance. 


The two sides discussed further cooperation in AI and data, focusing on knowledge exchange, human resource development, joint participation in events, and policy development.


Al Qaed wished continued success for the Global AI Summit 2024 and future bilateral collaboration.
