A concert in celebration of the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations was hosted at the Winland International Financial Center in Hangzhou on September 8.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has played an extremely important role in global cooperation, as well as China-Malaysia relations. Iskandar bin Sarudin, president of One Belt One Road Malaysia, said that the BRI aims to enhance global trade and economic cooperation by connecting Asia with Europe and Africa through infrastructure development, trade agreements, and cultural exchanges.
Over the past decade, the BRI has achieved notable milestones, including the construction of numerous infrastructure projects in participating countries, such as the East Coast Railway Link (ECRL) in Malaysia. Most of the ECRL project has been completed and both countries are happy to see the progress, said Sarudin.

As the host of the concert, Winland International has made significant contributions in the fields of arts, humanities, and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China. “Though we speak different languages, music can link the two nations together via its tunes and inner meaning, and we sincerely want more people to come to Hangzhou to experience the exhibitions and concerts with us,” Winland’s CEO Adam Yu said.

During the concert, Malaysian pianist Claudia Yang performed “The Dream of the Red Chamber” piano concerto.
Music is a universal language that transcends borders, cultures, and languages, with the remarkable ability to communicate emotions, stories, and ideas together, said Yang, who lives in Beijing with her family.
“As a Malaysian and a daughter-in-law of China, I feel the need to devote more time to bridge the cultural gaps between the two countries,” she said.
