Azerbaijan GP: Formula 2 race starts in Baku

The main Formula 2 race for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has started in Baku.

Dutch driver Richard Verschoor of the Trident team claimed the pole position with the fastest qualifying time. He was followed by Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Prema Racing in second place and French driver Victor Martins from Art Grand Prix in third, News.Az reports.

The main Formula 1 race for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is scheduled to begin at 15:00 (Baku time) today.

Running from September 13-15, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 continues to attract global attention. Held on the Baku City Circuit—a prominent street circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital—the event has been a fixture since its debut in 2017 and is set to remain at this venue until at least 2026.

The Baku City Circuit Operations Company expects record-breaking global viewership for this year’s event. Around 300 journalists, including approximately 200 from international media outlets such as Sky Sports, Motorsport, Canal+, Netflix, and The Sun, are covering the races, bringing the thrilling action from Baku’s streets to audiences worldwide.
