Live: Birthday party for giant pandas held in Sichuan
The breeding season for giant pandas runs from July to September every year. It is also a celebratory period where the birthday of the much-loved animals is recognized. At the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda in Ya’an, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, a series of enriching activities are held to celebrate the adorable creatures. Enrichment for giant pandas refers to the various measures taken by caregivers to enhance their quality of life in captivity. This includes simulating their natural habitat as closely as possible, changing the types of bamboo provided, and offering treats such as bamboo shoots, cakes, and ice treats. These efforts aim to meet both the physiological and psychological needs of the pandas and improve their living conditions significantly.
Today, we invite you to explore the Ya’an base to discover the exciting changes brought about by these enrichment activities and see what special Mid-Autumn Festival gifts the caregivers have prepared for the pandas. Join us in the livestream to witness the joyful growth of our national treasure – the giant panda!
