WHO: We work with Egypt, Jordan, all relevant parties to offer services in Gaza
RAMALLAH – WHO Representative in the Palestinian territories Rick Peppercorn stated that the organization plans to carry out health campaigns in the Gaza Strip in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Health and UNICEF.
In statements to Al-Qahera News channel, the WHO representative mentioned that humanitarian pauses are necessary to continue the polio vaccination campaign in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.
He noted that efforts are being made with Egypt, Jordan, and all relevant parties to provide health services to Palestinians in the enclave. He also pointed out that the organization aims to vaccinate 90% of children there in two phases.
Peppercorn said that three days would not be sufficient for the polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, explaining that the WHO is working to ensure that the campaign covers all areas of the Strip.
He mentioned that the polio vaccination campaign will start from the central region of the Gaza Strip and then move to the southern and northern areas.
