President Japarov congratulates hero of Kyrgyzstan, cosmonaut Sharipov on 60th anniversary

AKIPRESS.COM – President Sadyr Japarov today congratuated the hero of the Kyrgyz Republic, cosmonaut Salijan Sharipov on his 60th anniversary, the president’s press service reported.

“You went into the space with the flag of Kyrgyzstan and a handful of native soil, which brought great respect and honor to our state. It is thanks to cosmonaut of the Kyrgyz Republic Salijan Sharipov that Kyrgyzstan became known to many,” President Japarov said in his congratulations.

Kyrgyzstan produced important details and devices for spacecrafts during Soviet era and was proud to become a significant participant of the space program, President Japarov stated.

“We are proud of you, our compatriot, who flew into the space from Central Asia in years of independence. Your contribution to space exploration was highly valued and you were awarded the title of Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic. Our design engineering departments and plants used to be part of the Intercosmos international program launched in 1970. In 2004, you went to the space again and was awarded the title of the hero of the Russian Federation,” President Japarov said.

Thus, Kyrgyzstan was widely known in the international community as a state that contributed to space programs both in the Soviet years and in the years of independence, the President added.

“Of course, your contribution as a patriot of your land is enormous. As a true son of your homeland, you dedicated your activities to Kyrgyzstan, expressing the desire that in the future, citizens of Kyrgyzstan could fly into space. May your good intentions and wishes come true that the necessary conditions for space flight would be created in our country. Your life path as a professional astronaut, who achieved his goals despite everything, is an excellent example for the youth of Kyrgyzstan,” President Japarov underscored.

The head of state noted that today the country has embarked on the path of building a New Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence that the wishes and intentions of Salijan Sharipov will come true, and there will be an opportunity to support young people who are striving to study the secrets of the space.
