Iran’s fisheries exports reach $138 million in five months
Iran’s Customs Administration (IRICA) announced that the country’s fisheries exports totaled $138 million in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to August 22, 2024), reflecting a 24% increase compared to the same period last year.
The export volume amounted to 68,000 tons, a 32% rise in weight over the previous year.
The five leading fisheries export products during this period were various species of dogfish and sharks, valued at $32.7 million; shrimp at $31.3 million; tuna at $14.6 million; carp at $11.4 million; and herring and sardines at $9.1 million. These five products together contributed $99.1 million of the total export value, Iran’s Customs Administration report added.
This growth underscores Iran’s increasing presence in the global seafood market.
